Tkay Maidza brings a refreshing different sound to music scene

Image
Tkay Maidza is an Australian singer-songwriter & rapper who just debuted her self-titled album Tkay in the U.S., and I have to say I'm LOVING her new & different sound. The 22-year-old keeps her vocals simple & whispy on her tracks, but she definitely can throw down a rap verse that can go up against the other female rappers already on the music scene. Her sound is sort of reminiscent of M.I.A. My two favorite songs from her new album are titled "Follow Me" & "Simulation." "Follow Me" is a fun pop song with a catchy chorus that anyone can easily sing to. It shows Tkay's softer side, but don't let her angelic face fool you, because she also has some explicit tracks on this album as well to show her bad girl side. "Simulation" is also another fun pop song that I can see being a radio-friendly hit for her. The beat is fun with its percussion & beat drop during the chorus. You can listen to both tracks below. Anderson East is a blues legend in the making...LISTEN HERE!

If you haven't heard of Anderson East yet, then once you do you'll be adding him to your playlist. But you may have heard his name. That's because he's currently dating country star Miranda Lambert. But aside from that, the 30-year-old is a true talent with a blues sound that's reminiscent of the legendary Otis Redding. East is from Alabama, and his music and voice stays true to his southern roots. My favorite track off his new album, Encore , is titled "If You Keep Leaving Me." East starts off with his raspy but yet calm voice, but make no mistake he reaches the chorus and that's when you begin to feel his soul as he belts it out. Keep your eye on this guy, because he is going to go places! Below you can listen to his songs "If you Keep Leaving Me" & "King For A Day." You can download & stream East's album Encore on iTunes now!

New artist Cloves delivers a catchy retro sound

Image
Meet 21-year-old Australian singer "Cloves." She has released her new single titled, "Bringing the House Down," and it's giving me all the retro feels. Her voice is reminiscent of the 60s & 70s. It has such a wide-range from low to high, and it's a seamless transition between both on this song. The second you hear the guitar strums in the beginning, you are hooked, but then you add Cloves vocals, and as soon as you know it, you're singing along to its catchy chorus. Cloves is making her mark on the music scene with this as her first single. I'm thinking we'll see more of her in the near future. You can watch the music video for "Bringing the House Down" below. If you like it, then you can also download the song on iTunes.
