The shoe fits for fans of Cinderella
I was lucky enough to get an advanced screening of one of Disney's most highly-anticipated movies this year, and let me tell you IT WAS WORTH IT! Cinderella is every bit as charming as the original animated classic, and reintroduces a new generation to the fairytale many of us have come to love. First of all, the cast is AMAZING!
Lily James captures the beauty and innocence that Cinderella should embody. Her sweet approach to
the character really makes you feel her emotions throughout the movie. Cinderella suffers a lot of tragedy in the film, so that touch and connection with the audience was needed, and James was sure to deliver. You want to reach into the screen and give her a hug and tell her, "It's going to be alright girl."
With that being said, Cate Blanchett, who play Cinderella's evil stepmother, is almost too scary good for the part (I mean that in a good way of course...haha). She shows NO remorse for Cinderella, and is insanely vain and selfish, always thinking about material things and money. She basically turns poor Cinderella into the house slave, and let's put it this way, you'll really be hating her by the end of the film.
Helena Bonham was the perfect pick to play Cinderella's fairy godmother. She brings some fun to the film's best moment, which is the transformation of a pumpkin, mice, lizards, and a goose into a carriage, horses, and its coachmen. Her part in the film is brief, but she makes it one of the most memorable.
The film is beautifully shot with its design and costumes. I'm pretty sure every little girl will want Cinderella's beautiful blue dress. The chemistry between Cinderella and her Prince Charming is undeniable, especially in the scene at the royal ball. They share a dance together, and all eyes are on them. The acting is SUPERB! It truly brings back everything we love about Disney's classic touch on fairytales. So, if you're looking for a fun-filled family movie to see, then THIS IS THE ONE! Cinderella is in theaters this Friday, March 13! If you haven't seen the trailer, then check it out below.
