'Jurassic World' is a DINO-MIGHTY good time
THE PARK IS FINALLY OPEN! Yes folks, in the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park series, we finally get to see the prehistoric theme park up and running.
Now, I am a HUGE fan of the franchise. I was only 6 years-old when Jurassic Park came out, and I will never forget the excitement I felt in the theater when I saw it. I was mesmerized with how the dinosaurs looked and sounded and moved. It was cinema magic right before my very eyes, because there had never been another film like it before.
So now fast forward to 23 years later and two sequels to the original film. I've been waiting for this movie, like many others for so long! So once I saw the scene where the doors open to Jurassic World, I felt that same excitement once again and hearing the epic theme song from the original film even boosted that nostalgia.
The film begins with brothers Gray & Zach who are going to visit the park after their Aunt Claire (played by Bryce Dallas Howard) invites them to a full VIP experience since she is a marketing executive for the park. So they leave their parents, and Gray is super excited to see it, because he is obsessed with everything dinosaurs, and Zach, well he's a teen boy who isn't so impressed or thrilled with the idea of hanging out with his little brother.
Meanwhile, we meet Owen, (played by Chris Pratt), who is a velociraptor trainer. Yes, he was trained 4 of the meanest and fastest dinosaurs we saw in the previous films to listen to him and hunt on his command. Owen and Claire have a somewhat romantic past together. The Jurassic World company has asked her to reach out to him, because they have developed a genetically mixed hybrid dinosaur that they are getting ready to introduce to the public soon due to the park's decline in sales and attendance.
While they're doing that, Zach and Gray are visiting all the attractions the park has to offer. They even see a huge water dinosaur eat a shark before their very eyes, which was one of my favorite scenes in the film, because of its cool effects. They eventually split from one of Claire's assistants who she asked to watch them and venture out on their own. But things quickly go from fun to good, when the genetically-made dinosaur escapes from its holding cell and goes on a killing spree of every creature and human in its path. Zach and Gray soon find themselves face-to-face with this new monster, and it tries to kill them basically.
All-in-all, the effects are really cool and amazing, especially if you see the film in 3-D like I did. It'll bring back many memories of the original and get your adrenaline pumping throughout. I also like the characters in the film, because you really feel you got to know and connect to most of them. I was super impressed, but I still have to say I will always favor the original movie over the rest of the films, because once again it was the first time I ever had seen something like that on the big screen. But I will say the new generation of little ones will probably be just as excited to see this one, especially if it's the first Jurassic Park film they've ever scene. Now, be forewarned this film is graphic like the others with dinosaurs ripping each other's flesh and humans getting eaten. So if you don't want your children to see that or if they get scared easily by monsters, then I'd say skip it. But, I say for all the adult big kids like myself, GO SEE IT!!! It will open your eyes and answer questions you've had if you ever wondered what it would be like to experience the park if it had opened. Jurassic World is rated PG-13 and is released in theaters this Friday, June 12.
